Towers for Meteorological and Air Chemistry Measurements

Applications for this manifold include sampling gases related to EPA Air Quality Standards such as those in the Method TO-15 or Method TO-17. The gases that can be sampled include ozone, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides. The support tower also serves as a platform for meteorological sensors. This manifold system has been used in major scientific studies such as the Southern Oxidant Studies in Nashville, and Atlanta, and has permanent installations at sites such as the PROPHET site at the University of Michigan biological station site near Pellston, Michigan. The gas sampling manifold provides a way of transferring clean air from a distant sample inlet to the laboratory with minimum contamination. Residence times of air in the manifold are less than a second in most cases.
