The MQ-1001 is a new and unique TOC/DOC analyzer
using quartz-based high temperature combustion.
The MQ-1001 consists of the following:
Autoinjection system with a unique design featuring direct
Pt-tubing coupling of injector valve to the high temperature combustion
column.
Automatic Sample Degassing Assembly.
Autosampler for automatic injection of 1-114 samples
Quartz High Temperature Combustion Column (no cold zone at the
top)
Dual Stage Oven with individual temperature controllers with
digital readout.
Injection of post-column condensate water for system blank
determination.
Post Column Traps.
Gas flow regulator or mass flow controller (with readout).
Oven pressure protection.
Computer interface board and software for instrument control and
peak integration.
Compact design for easy shipping and field applications.
Performance Characteristics
Injection system and column are totally closed to the atmosphere
at all times.
Fixed sample loop for high precision injection.
High speed injection mode and automatic rinsing between each
injection.
The column has NO COLD ZONE or dead space.
Total blank (system plus Nanopure water) for conditioned column:
5-10uM-C.
Concentration Range: approximately 2 uM-C to greater than 1000
uM-C.
Typical precision at the 80 uM-C level: about 0.8% RSD.
Sample throughput: 2-3 minutes per sample (4-5 minutes per sample
with autosampler).
New column conditioning time: 50-100 Nanopure water injections.
No detectable memory/carry over effects for sequential injections
of 400 uM-C standard and Nanopure water.
Combustion Efficiency for all refractory compounds tested: 100%
(for temperature range of 560-800 C).
Column Lifetime: Typically greater than 10,000 freshwater / 5,000
seawater injections.
Typical Injection Volume: 50 - 100 uL
Note: The current analyzer system does not include a CO2 detector
(Li-Cor model 6252 recommended) and an IBM-compatible PC (386 or higher
with windows required)
Each System Purchased Includes:
a 60 day trial period
one year warranty on parts (except comsumables) and labor
2-3 day training session
Test Methods using TOC Analysis: USEPA 415.1, 9060A - ASTM D3871-84,
