South East Calibration Center (SECC)

The G.O. Environmental South East Calibration Center ( SECC ) is specifically established to calibrate oceanographic and environmental instruments, specializing in high accuracy conductivity, temperature and pressure measurements.
The facility capabilities also include water flow sensor calibration.
All work performed at the SECC is in accordance with published procedures and uses standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the International Association for the Physical Science of the Oceans (IAPSO). All calibrations are performed under operator assisted computer control.

EQUIPMENT IN USE:

DEADWEIGHT PISTON GAUGES:
Ruska, oil type, re-entrant cylinder. Range: 50 - 12,000 PSI, 0.01% accuracy
Chandler, oil type, simple cylinder. Range: 50 - 15,000 PSI, 0.1% accuracy

TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION:
Two Rosemount Platinum Resistance Thermometers. Range: -200 deg. to 650 deg.
Neil Brown ATB-1250 Automatic Thermometer Bridge. Accuracy: +/- 1 mK
Five Tronac 55 Liter Precision Controlled Temperature Baths: Range: -3 deg - 80 deg. Stability: +/- 1 mK from -3 deg. - 40 deg; +/- 2 mK from 20 deg - 80 deg.

CONDUCTIVITY CALIBRATION:
Neil Brown CSA 1250 Conductivity and Salinity Adaptor. Range: 1 - 25 mmho/cm, Accuracy: +/- 0.002 mmho/cm. Range: 25 - 60 mmho/cm, Accuracy: +/- 0.001 mmho/cm
Five 375 liter Salt Water baths. Range: 12 - 65 mmho/cm. Stability: +/- 0.001 mmho/cm
IAPSO Standard Seawater
