Oceansoft
CTD Data Acquisition and Post Processing Software
Oceansoft is a two-part menu-driven CTD data acquisition and
post processing software system for IBM AT compatible computers. Derived
parameters such as salinity, density, dissolved oxygen, etc., can be displayed
not only during post processing but also during acquisition. Oceansoft has been
used by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Since 1986 and the methods of
calculating oceanographic parameters have been thoroughly tested and verified.
Oceansoft I lists, plots and stores data transmitted
by a CTD. Function keys allow the operator to mark data, pause data collection,
or fire Rosette water bottles.
Oceansoft II provides the capability for
computer-aided editing and pressure averaging of stored data. Oceansoft II can
search for changes in properties that exceed user selectable limits. These
points are flagged and sections of data containing potentially incorrect values
can be easily displayed on the CRT. These values can be changed by manually
entering new values or by using the automatic interpolation feature. The stored
data can be processed with sensor calibration coefficients and time lag
corrections different from those used during acquisition. Color plots of one or
several parameters versus another, the same parameter at multiple stations, and
station location maps can be made on a plotter or CRT. Listings of selected
parameters can be made on a printer or CRT. Raw CTD data, edited data, or
pressure-averaged data can be plotted on a color plotter or CRT. The user
selects the properties to be plotted. Up to 4 different properties can be
plotted on the same graph as a function of a single parameter on a "Property/Property
Plot". Salinity can be plotted versus temperature in a "T-S Diagram".
Oceansoft II will draw isopycnals on the diagram. The same two properties at
several stations can be plotted on a "Multi Station Overplot". The "Summary
Location Plot" displays the positions of CTD stations.
