DEEP SEA REVERSING THERMOMETERS
Due to the after math of the 9/11 a strict hazardous material shipping code has gone into effect.
A UN2809 UN/CARRIER SURCHARGE, in the amount $365.00 HAZARDOUS GOODS; $/SHIPMENT will be added to the cost of the thermometers plus the normal shipping charges. (this includes plastic-barrier packaging, certification; required for thermometers and products with mercury, or other hazardous chemicals)
Unusual skill and care go into every detail of construction. Special glass is formulated to our specifications, the mercury used is the best available
and further processed in our own laboratories. Master glassblowers and engravers of the highest caliber product these reversing thermometers
which are used by leading research institutions everywhere. Special machinery and equipment has been developed to facilitate fabrication, and
attention is given to every detail so that the finished thermometer truly reflects the great skills of the artisans and meets the exacting demands of the
scientists.
The DSRT is designed to function accurately at all depths -for abyssal waters special protective glass shells are used. The main thermometer has a flat scale engraved with extremely sharp, thin lines for ease in reading and reduction of parallax errors. Translucent-backed glass shells are used to facilitate thermometer scale reading. Normal glass tubing is used with a coefficient expansion of 0.00016°. The design of the appendix breaking point, has been improved to permit repeatability of reading to 0.10°C or 0.001°C, depending on scale range. The regular glass protective shell will withstand pressures to approx. 5,000 meters in depth. The volume of mercury is controlled to about 100°C to simplify calculations. (No.286WA100 Circular Slide Rule, specifically designed for rapid calculations of oceanographic data, is available.)
The DSRT is 330 mm long and 19 mm in diameter and fits all standard thermometer frames. The most common ranges are listed, but special ranges are fabricated to order. Each thermometer is supplied with a factory test certificate of accuracy. In addition, the unprotected type is furnished with the pressure factor. Both the protected and unprotected types are fitted with auxiliary, or side thermometers, range-20° to + 55°. The auxiliary thermometer permits correcting the DSRT for temperature differentials which may exist at time of reading as compared to temperature at depth of reversal.
DEEP SEA REVERSING THERMOMETER, Protected Type, with sealed protective glass shell and auxiliary thermometer, range -20° to + 55°C, for depths to approx. 5,000 meters, complete with test certificate. (Available for greater depths on special order.)

DEEP SEA REVERSING THERMOMETER, Unprotected Type with auxiliary thermometer range -20° to + 55°C. Similar in construction to 295WA100 style, but with thermometer bulb exposed to the water. This usually is paired with the Protected thermometer, which indicates the true water temperature. The unprotected thermometer indicates the water temperature, plus the effect of water pressure on the bulb to permit computation of the exact depth of reversal. Furnished with test certificate and pressure factor:No. 295WA200- Range: -2 to + 60°C in 0.2°
No. 295WA201- -2 to + 45°C in 0.2°
