Model 303 Borehole Probe

ADVANCED SENSORS AND DEVICES FOR BOREHOLE PROFILING AND MONITORING

The OCEAN SEVEN 303 CTD multiparameter probe is the result of Idronaut's 20 years experience in the design and manufacture of high-technology probes for scientific, research and borehole monitoring applications. The 303 CTD multiparameter probe, which has an outside diameter of only 43 mm, has been specifically designed for borehole application and uses very reliable, accurate and drift free high quality sensors, associated with advanced and miniaturised electronics.

The OCEAN SEVEN 303 CTD multiparameter probe offers a combination of 16-bit high resolution data accuracy, with long-term sensor stability, making this probe an ideal choice for profiling applications. Idronaut prides itself on the design of its pressure balanced full ocean depth, pump free, low maintenance sensors. Central to which, is their well known high accuracy seven-platinum-ring conductivity sensor, which can be cleaned in the field without need of re-calibration. The 303 CTD multiparameter probe does not require pumps or any other external device to flush the sensors. The OCEAN SEVEN 303 CTD multiparameter probe continuously transmits acquired data converted into engineering units via: telemetry or RS232C. Calibration coefficients and probe configuration are stored in the internal non-volatile memory.

The 303 CTD multiparameter probe allows the operator to select the proper Conductivity range: for salt or fresh water, making this probe a very advanced tool for borehole monitoring applications.

The following parameters are calculated from CTD sensor signals:

> SALINITY (according to UNESCO 1978 formula);

> FRESH WATER CONDUCTIVITY corrected at 20 °C;

> OXYGEN % SATURATION to OXYGEN ppm CONVERSION (according to UNESCO 1986 formula - Millero);

IDRONAUT REDAS Windows Software
The REDAS (REmote DAta Software) software has been designed for real-time acquisition process and its graphic facilities are extremely useful. It is a true Windows software, allowing changing of the graph parameters, printing of the current plot, display and printout of sample information during acquisition. It automatically manages the beginning and the end of a cast, bottle sampling, the selected alarms and the acquisition of cruise information through a geographical positioning system (GPS). The user can manage probe deployment without needing to trigger the acquisition software at the same time. During a cast, other users can look at the plots, print them or define the sampling depths in advance. Acquisition stops automatically when the probe is on board.
