Model 1401 CTD Data Terminal

Model 1401™ Deck Unit
CTD Data Terminal

The model 1401 CTD Deck Unit couples power to the MarkIIIB, MarkIIIC and SMART CTD and transfers data from the CTD to a host computer system and/or data logging device. The multiple output ports of the 1401 can be configured for binary or hex ASCII data and various control characters and baud rates. This can be done via a terminal or host computer or by setting DIP switches on the front panels. The 1401 can be configured with DIP switch settings for use with General Oceanics Oceansoft 1 CTD Acquisition Software. With DIP switches set for using a host computer running Oceansoft 1, simply turning on the 1401 is all that is required to begin acquisition and logging of all raw CTD data by the computer.

In addition to, or in place of sending all raw data to a host computer, the 1401 can be configured to send samples of incoming data to a computer terminal. This feature may be used for on-line data quality control when transferring raw data directly to a logging device or for stand alone operation of a MarkIIIC or MarkV CTD during check out.

The 1401 can be used with the General Oceanics Non-interrupt Firing Unit to send bottle fire commands to either a 1015 or the 1016 Intelligent Rosette integrated with a CTD. The commands are initiated by flicking a switch on the fire unit or by key stroke when using a host computer and Oceansoft 1.
